Schmidt prism is suitable for creating a dextrorse image with 45 degree light deviation. The 45 degree deviation of the Schmidt prism makes it important to be used in the assembly of the eyepiece and the imaging system that needs path bending. Schmidt prism and a half pentagonal prism can combine to be a Pechan prism.
